Today, Tuesday 3 November 2026, is joining day for Jhang’s newly selected School Teacher Interns (STIs). Candidates who made the final merit lists displayed on 31 October, and who collected their agreement letters yesterday, 2 November, are due to report to their allotted government schools today, when their internship formally begins.
The internship runs from today until 31 May 2027. It is a fixed-term engagement, not a permanent teaching post: the programme gives graduates real classroom experience, a timetable of their own and a school reference at the end of it, rather than a route into a permanent job.
What to take to school today
Selected interns should report to the school named in their agreement letter and hand their joining report to the head teacher. The documents to carry are the ones already checked at interview stage: the signed agreement letter downloaded from the official STI portal, the original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), original degrees and certificates, and the domicile certificate. Two sets of photocopies and a few recent passport-size photographs are also worth carrying, since schools commonly keep a set on file.
Interns who have taught before may also carry any experience letters they hold, though these are not a condition of joining. Where a school head or the district education office has given a specific reporting time or an additional instruction, that instruction should be followed.
The stipend, by school level
The monthly stipend depends on the level of the school where the intern is posted: Rs38,000 a month at primary level, Rs40,000 at elementary level and Rs45,000 at high and higher secondary level, as reported for this intake. The stipend is paid monthly through a bank account, so interns should make sure the account they gave at application stage is active and in their own name.
No fee is charged at any stage of the STI process. Anyone who asks a candidate for money in return for a posting, a better school or a place on a list is not acting for the department, and candidates should report such an approach to the district education office rather than paying.
If a selected intern does not report today
Today is also the day when seats can start to move. The School Education Department has not announced a separate province-wide second merit list for this intake, because selection is made school by school and subject by subject. Instead, each school’s merit order acts as its waiting list: if a selected intern does not sign the agreement or does not report today, the seat can pass to the next eligible candidate on that same school’s list, in the same subject and at the same level.
That is why candidates ranked just below the selected intern should not give up today. The realistic chances of a seat opening are highest in exactly these circumstances: an agreement unsigned, a joining missed, or original documents that do not match the online record at verification. Waiting candidates should keep their portal login active, keep originals and copies of their CNIC, degrees, mark sheets and domicile ready to produce at short notice, and stay in touch with the school head through proper channels.
How Jhang got here
The road to today has been short and fast. The School Education Department approved fresh hiring of STIs against vacant seats on 25 September 2026, applications closed on 18 October, interviews for shortlisted candidates were held on 29 and 30 October, and final merit lists were displayed on school notice boards and on the STI portal on 31 October. Agreement letters followed on 2 November, and today the engagement itself begins.
For Jhang’s schools, the arrival of new interns comes at a useful moment in the school year, with a long stretch of term ahead before the internship ends on 31 May 2027.
The STI portal at sti.pesrp.edu.pk and the notice board of the school concerned are the authoritative places for lists, letters and joining instructions. Unofficial merit-list websites are often out of date, and forwarded messages should never be treated as an appointment.
