Four people from Jhang district lost their lives and two others were critically injured in a horrific traffic accident on the Hafizabad Motorway on Wednesday, when a dumper rammed into the loader vehicle they were travelling in.
According to details, a speeding dumper crashed into a loader (commonly known as a Shahzor) on the motorway. The impact was devastating — four people died on the spot, while two others sustained critical injuries in the collision.
The deceased all belonged to Jhang and were on their way from Jhang to Rawalpindi when tragedy struck.
A recurring danger on the motorway
The accident once again highlights the deadly risks of Pakistan’s motorways, where heavy vehicles sharing the road with smaller transport have produced a string of fatal crashes this year. Road safety advocates have long called for stricter speed enforcement for dumpers and trucks, better lane discipline, and mandatory rest periods for commercial drivers.
Investigations into the exact circumstances of this collision — including the speed of the dumper at the time of impact — are expected to be carried out by the motorway authorities.
What families should know
For the families of the victims and the injured, the immediate priority is medical care and legal formalities. In fatal road accidents, families can pursue compensation claims through the courts, and it is advisable to keep copies of the police report and medical records for any such proceedings.
Jhang News Network extends its condolences to the bereaved families. We will update this story if official statements from the motorway police or district authorities add further details.
