Three separate accidents in Jhang district and Shorkot on 5 November 2026 left a 12-year-old boy dead, two labourers injured and a 45-year-old man rescued alive from a well 30 feet deep, according to Rescue 1122.
The deadliest of the three happened in Shorkot. At Qaim Bharwana, near Waryam Chowk on Multan Road, a speeding 22-wheeler trailer struck a motorcycle. The boy riding it, 12-year-old Daim Raza, son of Muhammad Ramzan, was killed. Rescue 1122 staff reached the scene and found the boy already dead. His body was taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Shorkot under police supervision.
The report does not say who else was on the motorcycle, whether the trailer driver stopped, or whether a case has been registered. None of that should be assumed. What is confirmed is the collision, the vehicle involved, the place, and the boy’s death as reported by the rescue service.
The second incident was a rescue rather than a recovery. At Adda Syedabad, Chak 253 on Faisalabad Road in Jhang, 45-year-old Imdad Hussain, son of Riaz, slipped and fell into a well about 30 feet deep. When the alarm was raised, a Rescue 1122 team reached the spot and, using modern equipment, pulled him out safely. He was given first aid at the scene and then shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jhang.
A fall into a well of that depth is usually fatal, and the fact that Imdad Hussain came out alive is a measure of how quickly the rescue team worked and of the equipment they had with them. Wells in this part of Punjab are often uncovered or only partly covered, and a slip at the edge leaves almost no time to catch hold. His survival is the one piece of good news in a grim day’s reporting.
The third accident happened in Satellite Town, Jhang, in front of Dr Riaz Dub Hospital, where a house was under construction. Workers were placing a T.R. girder on the roof when the roof gave way, and two labourers were buried under the rubble. Local people pulled both men out themselves before the rescue team arrived, and Rescue 1122 staff then gave them first aid at the scene.
The injured men were identified as 23-year-old Ashfaq, son of Ahmed, and 32-year-old Irfan, son of Ahmed, both residents of Basti Siddiqabad on Sugar Mill Road in Jhang. Ashfaq was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment, while Irfan was treated at the scene. The report does not describe the extent of either man’s injuries, and this article does not guess at them.
Taken together, the three incidents show how quickly ordinary moments turn dangerous in the district. A boy on a motorcycle on a main road, a man walking near an open well, two labourers working on a roof — none of them set out expecting harm, and all three incidents were over in seconds.
The Shorkot crash is the one that raises the hardest questions. Multan Road carries a mix of fast heavy vehicles and slow local traffic, including motorcycles carrying children, and a 22-wheeler trailer has almost no room to stop when something crosses its path. The boy’s death will be recorded as another road fatality, but behind that figure is a family in Shorkot that has lost a child.
Road crashes are the single largest category of emergency in Jhang. Rescue 1122 in the district answered 7,641 emergencies during October, and 1,039 of those were road accidents, according to figures released by District Emergency Officer Engineer Sultan Mahmood and reported on 4 November. Across those October emergencies, 144 people lost their lives. The three incidents reported today fit that pattern: most emergencies are survivable with quick help, but a road crash at speed often is not.
For residents, the practical points are the familiar ones. Keep children off motorcycles on main roads wherever possible, treat uncovered wells as the hazard they are, and make sure construction work has proper support before anyone stands on a roof. None of those precautions can undo what happened today. They are worth repeating because the next accident is already only a moment away.
