Jhang Weather Today, 5 November 2026: Sunny at 30°C — Air Worsens Again to Very Unhealthy at AQI 221

4 min read No comments

Jhang wakes up to a bright, dry Thursday morning on 5 November 2026 — but the sunshine is deceptive. The air has worsened again overnight, and the haze hanging over the district is now back in the “Very Unhealthy” band, so anyone heading out early should take the smog seriously even though the sky looks clear.

The morning begins sunny, with the temperature at 22°C and humidity near 76 per cent. A very light west-south-westerly breeze of about 2 kilometres per hour is barely moving the air, and pressure is rising at 1018 hPa. The sun rose at 6:29 AM and will set at 5:18 PM, giving a short November day.

The daytime high will reach 30°C, with an overnight low of 18°C. By 9 AM it will be mostly sunny at 23°C, climbing to 27°C by 11 AM and 28°C at noon. The afternoon peaks at 30°C between 2 PM and 3 PM, still sunny, before easing to 29°C at 4 PM and 28°C at 5 PM. The evening turns clear, falling to 25°C by 7 PM and 23°C by 9 PM, and the night stays mostly clear down to 18°C.

There is effectively no chance of rain today. The rain chance stays at 0 to 2 per cent through the afternoon and only 3 to 4 per cent late at night, so outdoor work, travel, school runs and drying washing should all go ahead without wet-weather disruption. Tomorrow, Friday 6 November, is forecast to stay mostly sunny with a high of 30°C and a low of 17°C, and only a 10 per cent rain chance.

The headline change today is the air. The live Air Quality Index for Jhang Sadar stands at 221 this morning, in the “Very Unhealthy” band, with fine particulate matter (PM2.5) named as the main pollutant. That is a clear step back from yesterday, when the morning reading was 189 in the “Unhealthy” band. It is not the worst reading of this run — 3 November reached 246 — but it is the second-worst, and it reverses the improvement seen on 4 November.

At these levels, the usual precautions apply: children, older residents and anyone with asthma or another breathing condition should limit strenuous outdoor activity, keep windows closed during the worst of the haze, and wear a mask outdoors if they must be out for long. Drivers should also allow for reduced visibility in the early morning haze, even on a day the forecast calls sunny.

No official school-closure order for Jhang has been found this morning. Parents should therefore rely on official notifications from the Environment Protection Agency and the School Education Department, and on their own school’s instructions, rather than on forwarded messages. The standing winter school timings from October remain in force; this article makes no claim of any new closure.

For farmers, the dry, settled weather suits the work of the season. The wheat-sowing window for irrigated areas runs to 20 November, so growers still have time to complete sowing with certified seed of approved varieties, at the department’s advised rate of 40 to 45 kilograms per acre. The persistent haze, however, is a reminder that this is peak smog season, and that stubble burning in the weeks ahead will only add to the smoke in the air.

One date for Jhang’s farming community today: applications for pesticide dealer licences through the Punjab government’s eBiz portal close today, 5 November. Training for new licence holders runs from 6 to 12 November, and renewal training from 6 to 8 November, at district and tehsil level. Applicants who still need details should contact their local agriculture office today rather than assuming a late application will be accepted.

In short: a sunny, dry Thursday at 30°C, a clear night down to 18°C, no rain — but very unhealthy air at AQI 221, worse than yesterday’s 189, and worth taking seriously through the day.
