Highway Patrol Registered 213 Cases in Jhang During October as 60 Wanted Suspects Held Across Faisalabad Region

The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) registered 213 cases in Jhang district during October 2026, as part of a month-long crackdown across the Faisalabad region that led to the arrest of 60 wanted suspects and the recovery of seven missing children.

The figures were shared by SP Punjab Highway Patrol Faisalabad Region, Muhammad Tariq Malik, in a review of the force’s October performance, reported by The Nation on 2 November.

Across the four districts of the Faisalabad region, the patrol registered 692 cases during October. Faisalabad district accounted for the largest share with 271 cases, followed by Jhang with 213, Toba Tek Singh with 135 and Chiniot with 73. Jhang’s share — nearly a third of the region’s total — shows how much of the patrol’s work in the region falls on the district’s highways.

During the operations, PHP personnel arrested 60 wanted suspects, including 38 proclaimed offenders and 22 court absconders. A proclaimed offender is a person declared by a court to be evading arrest, while a court absconder is someone who has failed to appear before a court as required.

The crackdown also targeted drugs and illegal weapons. The force registered 34 cases for drug-related offences and recovered 599 litres of liquor. In a separate drive against illegal weapons, it registered five cases and recovered three 30-bore pistols, one 12-bore gun and 12 rounds and cartridges.

Other recoveries during the month included a stolen motorcycle, bearing registration number ARR-9274, and cash amounting to Rs21,100. In a separate operation in Faisalabad district, PHP personnel also confiscated 595 kilograms of hazardous meat from dead animals, preventing its possible supply to consumers.

Alongside the enforcement work, the patrol continued to assist highway users. Personnel helped 2,091 people across the region with guidance and timely assistance for commuters facing difficulties on their journeys. To keep traffic moving safely, they also removed 61 encroachments from highways.

One of the month’s most welcome outcomes was the recovery of seven missing children from different locations, who were safely reunited with their parents and relatives.

Reviewing the monthly performance, SP Muhammad Tariq Malik said the Punjab Highway Patrol Faisalabad Region was working diligently to prevent crime on highways, protect the lives and property of citizens, and provide commuters with a safe and peaceful travelling environment. He added that public service and protection would remain a priority, with patrol personnel continuing to use their professional capabilities to ensure safer highways throughout the region.

It is worth being clear about the scope of these figures. The 213 cases are Jhang’s own figure, while the arrests, recoveries and assistance numbers are for the whole Faisalabad region, which covers Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot. The report does not break down the 60 arrests or the recovered items district by district, so this article does not attribute a share of them to Jhang alone.

For Jhang’s road users, the figures are a reminder that the district’s highways — including the routes to Faisalabad, Shorkot and the motorway interchanges — are actively patrolled, and that the patrol’s work covers both crime prevention and help for stranded travellers.
